Product discovery & scoping
Two weeks with your team, your users and whatever you already have running. You end up with a build plan, a cost, and a written list of the things we think are a bad idea.
Most of what we are asked to fix worked perfectly on launch day. It stopped working in year two, when the person who wrote it had gone. We build for year two.
We do not quote on the first call. Two weeks understanding the problem costs less than three months solving the wrong one, and we would rather lose the work than take it on that footing.
We also turn down design-only briefs. If nobody is going to build it, we are the wrong studio.
Six things, priced from. Every figure below is a starting point for a scoped piece of work, not a rate card — we quote properly once we know what we are building.

A working product for a real audience. Typed end to end, tested, deployed on infrastructure you own. Handover includes the runbook, not just the repository.
Multi-tenant from the first commit: billing, roles, audit trail, and the boring parts of onboarding that decide whether anyone renews.
Getting two pieces of software to agree. We have wired Xero, Salesforce, NHS Spine and a good deal of undocumented SOAP into things that had never met them.
The spreadsheet that four people maintain by hand, turned into something that maintains itself. Usually the cheapest work we do and the fastest to pay for itself.
Monthly retainer. Dependency updates, security patches, an on-call number, and a standing hour every fortnight to talk about what broke and why.
Trickdevelop is run by Phill Ltd, from a first-floor office on Westbourne Drive in Wilmslow.
Four of us. Eleven years between us in fintech, logistics and NHS integration work — the kind where a bad deployment is somebody's Tuesday morning ruined.
We started in 2025 on the back of a job that went badly. We inherited a half-finished rewrite from a team that had already left, with no documentation and a client who had stopped answering the phone. It took five months to finish. Somewhere in month three we worked out that this was the part we were actually good at: the unglamorous middle of a project, after the excitement and before the launch.
So that is what we sell. Not the pitch. The middle.
Send us the problem in plain English. We will tell you within two working days whether it is ours to solve, and roughly what it costs.
An hour, no charge, no slide deck. If we are not the right studio for it we will say so and point you at someone who is.

If you complete the enquiry form on this website we collect the name, email address, optional service selections and message you submit. If you email or telephone us, we hold whatever you choose to send us. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking software on this site, and we set no cookies other than the one recording your response to the cookie notice.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for marketing. It is held in our email and business systems, which are operated by service providers acting on our instructions under written terms. We disclose data to third parties only where the law requires it.
Enquiries that do not become work are deleted twelve months after our last contact with you. Records relating to a project we carried out are kept for seven years after the end of the engagement, to satisfy tax and limitation requirements. Anything else is deleted once the reason for holding it has passed.
Your data is stored within the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. If a supplier ever needed to process it elsewhere we would use an approved transfer mechanism, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to be informed, the right of access, and the right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection — including the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected] or to the registered office above. We respond within one month.

These terms govern your use of this website and any enquiry you make through it. This website is operated by Phill Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17365809, registered office 6 Westbourne Drive, Wilmslow, SK9 2GY. Any contract for services is made with Phill Ltd. Trickdevelop is the name under which this website is published.
We provide software development services: product discovery and scoping, web application development, SaaS platform development, systems and API integration, internal tooling and automation, and ongoing support and maintenance. The prices shown on this website are indicative starting points for a scoped piece of work, exclusive of VAT, and are not an offer capable of acceptance.
Nothing on this website can be bought or paid for online. Enquiries are made through the form, by email or by telephone. Work begins only once we have issued a written proposal or statement of work and you have accepted it in writing. That document, together with these terms, forms the contract.
We invoice separately after the engagement is agreed — normally in staged payments tied to milestones set out in the statement of work. Invoices are payable within 14 days unless the statement of work says otherwise. We may charge statutory interest on late payment under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Either party may end an engagement on 30 days' written notice. On cancellation you pay for work completed and for work irrevocably committed up to the end of the notice period; anything paid in advance and not yet earned is refunded within 30 days.
Where you are a consumer rather than a business, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of entering the contract under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. If you ask us in writing to begin work inside that period, you remain liable for the value of the work performed before you cancel.
On full payment, the intellectual property in the bespoke work we produce for you transfers to you. We keep ownership of our pre-existing tools, libraries and know-how and grant you a perpetual licence to use them as part of the delivered work. Third-party and open-source components remain subject to their own licences, which we identify on handover.
You agree to give us accurate information, timely access to the systems and people we need, and decisions within the timescales we agree. Delay caused by access or approvals may move dates and costs, and we will tell you in writing when it does.
Our total liability arising from an engagement is limited to the total fees paid by you under it. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data (beyond our obligation to maintain agreed backups) or indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot be limited by law. Nothing here affects the statutory rights of a consumer.

Please raise any concern with us first, in writing, at [email protected]. We acknowledge within five working days and aim to resolve within 20. If we cannot, both parties will consider mediation before starting proceedings.
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
